Profile
The Imperial Bank of Canada Building is a beautifully preserved neoclassical sandstone structure located along Stephen Avenue. Built in the early 20th century, the building reflects Calgary’s rise as a financial and commercial centre during a period of rapid growth.
Its architectural features include stone columns, carved decorative shields, detailed cornices, and large classical windows that contribute to the character of Stephen Avenue’s National Historic District. Although no longer serving as a bank, the building remains an important architectural landmark and a favourite subject for photographers, architecture enthusiasts, and visitors exploring Calgary’s heritage corridor.
