Profile
Calgary City Hall is one of the city’s most important historic and civic landmarks. Completed in 1911, this Romanesque Revival–style sandstone building served as Calgary’s first permanent City Hall and remains a symbol of the city’s early municipal governance.
The building features a prominent clock tower, arched windows, and finely detailed stonework that reflect Calgary’s “Sandstone City” era. Although city administration has moved to newer facilities, the original City Hall remains preserved as a historic site and is occasionally used for special events, ceremonies, and public functions.
Located near East Village and within walking distance of downtown attractions, Calgary City Hall is a meaningful stop for visitors interested in Calgary’s history and civic heritage.
